On August 26, 2020, Brendan Lupetin and Gregory Unatin of Meyers Evans Lupetin & Unatin obtained a jury verdict and a record-setting $10.83 million dollar award in favor of a patient that suffered permanent brain damage due to medical negligence by staff at Tyrone Hospital, in Blair County, PA. These two Pittsburgh attorneys, together with the firm’s founding attorney Jerry Meyers, were the first to bring a Pennsylvania medical malpractice case to trial and win for the plaintiff since the COVID-19 Pandemic began. Our sincere hope and belief is that this will pave the way for more medical malpractice cases to be tried and won in Pennsylvania as we continue to navigate the challenges and restrictions caused by the pandemic. This lawsuit proves that it is indeed possible to try a medical malpractice case in a Pennsylvania court, and get justice and financial restitution for individuals that have been harmed by the actions of medical professionals.
