"Steven L. Brown, was raised in the Bay Area and has lived in the San Joaquin Valley for 23 years. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University in 1989, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Kappa Phi. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from J. Rueben Clark School of Law, at Brigham Young University, in 1993. During law school, he clerked for the firm of Ivie and Young, an insurance defense and plaintiff’s personal injury firm. Upon graduating, he promptly passed the California Bar exam and was hired by the medical malpractice defense firm of Craddick, Candland and Conti, in Danville, California, where he had clerked while in law school. He subsequently became a partner. He worked for various hospitals and medical providers throughout the Bay Area and throughout northern and central California. In 2005, he and Douglas A. Gessell formed their current firm. He served as the President of the San Joaquin County Bar Association in 2011 and served on the Bar Foundation and various and diverse committees for four years, including the Judicial Liaison and Civil Litigation Committees. He is active in the local legal community and he has participated in the local chapter of the American Inn of Courts, which focuses on legal ethics and civility in the legal community. However, he is also actively a member of the California trial lawyer’s organization, the Consumer Attorneys of California, and he maintains connections with fellow medical malpractice attorneys throughout California. His ongoing participation in these professional organizations and legal connections create a powerful resource in battling the insurance defense companies and their hired attorneys. He also prides himself on his ability to continue learning the techniques of trial work to better represent his clients by obtaining the best settlements and verdicts. He is married to his wife whom he met in college, and they have three children who are at various stages of education and employment. His family is his most important focus, even above the practice of law. He is active in his church, having served a 2-year church mission in Sweden. He loves his family and enjoys serving others and cycling. He completed the Triple crown, cycling three 200-mile rides and 40,000 feet of climbing in one summer. He speaks fluent Swedish. He loves representing those who have been injured and need help. He finds great satisfaction in championing his clients’ causes."
